About Scott

Founder, Evolve Lacrosse | Boys Program Director, Park City Youth Lacrosse

Former Highland High School Varsity Assistant Coach

Scott Coccaro is a lifelong athlete, passionate lacrosse coach, mentor, and player-development advocate who believes that sports provide one of the most powerful environments for developing confidence, character, resilience, and leadership.

Growing up, Scott was a multi-sport athlete, competing in lacrosse, football, and wrestling. During his senior year of high school, he shifted his focus to football and wrestling, ultimately going on to compete in both sports at the collegiate level. His experiences across three demanding sports helped shape his understanding of what it takes to compete, the importance of preparation and discipline, and the role mindset plays in athletic success. Those lessons continue to influence his coaching philosophy today.

As the founder of Evolve Lacrosse, Scott believes that developing great lacrosse players requires more than teaching stick skills, offensive strategies, and game fundamentals. It requires developing the complete athlete—building confidence, character, resilience, and the mindset necessary to succeed both on and off the field.

Scott currently serves as the Boys Program Director for Park City Youth Lacrosse (PCYLO). He has coached across every youth age group and previously served as President of the PCYLO Board of Directors. His experience spans individual player development, team coaching, coach education, and building programs that create positive, lasting experiences for young athletes. This past spring, Scott was a varsity assistant at Highland High School.

His coaching philosophy is built around three core principles: Effort, Attitude, and Toughness. Scott believes that while natural talent and athletic ability are important, what ultimately separates players is their willingness to prepare, embrace challenges, respond to adversity, and take ownership of their development.

Through Evolve Lacrosse, Scott combines high-quality, on-field instruction with an intentional focus on mindset training. His approach emphasizes fundamentals, decision-making, creativity, and game intelligence while helping athletes develop the discipline, accountability, and confidence needed to reach their potential. Having experienced the demands of collegiate athletics firsthand, Scott understands that as athletes advance, physical talent alone is rarely enough. The ability to stay focused, compete through adversity, embrace coaching, and consistently put in the work often makes the difference.

Above all, Scott believes that youth sports should be challenging, rewarding, and fun. His goal is not simply to develop better lacrosse players, but to help young athletes become more confident, resilient, and capable individuals.

About Tim

University of Utah Assistant Coach | Assistant Coach, University of Virginia

Two-time All-American and first-team All-SUNYAC while at SUNY Geneseo

Tim McDermott is set to enter his fifth season as an assistant coach and his eighth overall with the Utah Lacrosse program in 2026. He has been on staff for each of Utah’s Division I seasons, joining the program in 2019 as director of operations before being named assistant coach prior to the 2022 campaign.

In his four prior seasons as an assistant coach, McDermott has seen the Utes win at least a share of the ASUN regular season championship each year with two outright titles (2022, ’23). The Utes also won the conference tournament crown in 2023 and ’24, earning the program’s first two berths into the NCAA Tournament.

All told, 27 all-conference accolades have rolled into Salt Lake City with McDermott on the coaching staff, along with five all-America awards.

He was with the Utes for a program-record 12-win season in 2023, including an undefeated 9-0 mark for the team in ASUN play.

In 2022, McDermott helped the Utes to an ASUN regular season title and 42 school records with Utah winning a then-program-best 10 games (10-4 overall). The Utes finished the year leading the ASUN in eight statistical categories with seven total Utah players earning a spot on the ASUN All-Conference teams.

During his time as the director of operations, McDermott handled the day-to-day logistics of running the lacrosse program for the Utes. Working closely with both the athletes and the coaching staff, McDermott was integral in transitioning the lacrosse program from a club sport to a Division I team.

During his time with the program as a club sport, he served as an assistant coach and director of operations for two seasons, helping lead the Utes to the 2018 Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference championship and two appearances in the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association tournament. Utah finished 16-1 overall in 2018 and had seven All-Americans, nine all-conference selections and finished fifth in the final coaches’ poll.

McDermott also spent two seasons as an assistant at Virginia from 2013-14, specifically working with the face-off specialists and goalies. Prior to his stint at Virginia, McDermott also spent time at Cortland State, Deep Run High School in Richmond, Va. and at Loyola (Md.).

As a player, McDermott was a two-time All-American and first-team All-SUNYAC while at SUNY Geneseo. He transferred to Loyola Maryland for his senior season.

McDermott was a reserve player for Major League Lacrosse's Chicago Machine, playing in one game in 2010. McDermott, who is from Cortland, N.Y., earned his degree in business administration from SUNY Geneseo in 2007 and an MBA from Loyola in 2010.
